Truths About Hypnosis

What is Hypnosis?

Hypnosis is a natural state of mind, like sleeping and breathing. It’s similar to daydreaming, or that feeling of losing track of time you get after driving for a long period of time. Hypnosis is a focus state of attention, that allows to bypass your critical thinking to make changes in your habits and behaviors.

What is the difference between Hypnosis and Hypnotherapy?

Hypnosis is used to help people discover the root cause of their symptoms, behaviors, or habits. When they are discovered, certain tools and techniques are used to help release them and relearn a new positive way of thinking, subconsciously. This is called hypnotherapy.

What is hypnotherapy good for and can help with?

Hypnotherapy can be used to treat anxiety, phobias, fear, stress, anger, substance abuse, sexual dysfunction, weight issue, undesirable behaviors, bad habits, chronic pain and more. Hypnotherapy works when everything else has failed. It works differently because it taps into the power of the subconscious mind where our memories and emotions are stored leading to long term changes.

Can I be hypnotized?

You've already been hypnotized anytime you watched an enjoyable movie, or read a good book. Hypnosis is a normal and natural state of mind that everyone has already experienced. Actually, it's such a normal state of mind that most people don't realize they are hypnotized. You will need to be willing and able to follow gentle instructions to be hypnotized and reach a "state of focused awareness".

Can I get hypnotized against my will?

You will need to be willing and able to follow gentle instructions to be hypnotized. You'll be conscious and alert the whole time. You won't do anything you don't want to do. If your hypnotist suggests something that goes against your values, moral belief system, or is in any way dangerous to yourself or anyone else, it will be rejected immediately by your conscious mind. You will be able to stop your session at any time if you want to. It is not to be mistaken with "stage hypnosis" where people go for fun and are willing to participate.

Is Hypnosis mind control?

While hypnotized, you remain conscious and in control. But you’re relaxed and highly focused. This allows you to tune out stimuli around you and reach a heightened "state of focused awareness".

Is Hypnosis sleep?

The deep focus and relaxation reached during hypnosis is often mistaken for sleep or unconsciousness.  But unlike sleep, you are awake and acutely aware. You are in control and can open your eyes and come back into your surroundings at all time. And you will remember everything.

Can I get stuck in Hypnosis?

It is not possible to get stuck in hypnosis, contrary to what Hollywood might portray. Hypnosis is a normal, natural state. Just as people don’t get stuck in sleep, people don’t get stuck in hypnosis.

Is Hypnosis safe?

It's not only safe, it is therapeutic, healing and life changing.

What happens during a session? Do I have to act a certain way?

You first go through a process to reach hypnosis, called the hypnotic induction. In general, you’ll be seated/lying on in a chair/couch with your eyes closed. Your hypnotist will help you feel at ease during the session and will guide you into a hypnotic state where your mind and body are relaxed and you let go of any tension. In the hypnotic state, you feel mentally and physically relaxed, calm and focused, and you will experience heightened awareness.

Once in hypnosis, you will receive hypnotic suggestions. These suggestions are designed to replace and update your subconscious thoughts. Hypnosis will help you to accept informations and ideas in a positive way.

How long does it take?

Each session is about 90 minutes long.  It usually takes as little as 4 or 5 sessions to properly address an issue to ensure a long term benefit. In some cases, a few more sessions might be indicated to reinforce the new behavior, either right after hypnotherapy or in the later on as you feel is needed.

How would I feel?

You’ll feel relaxed and hyper focused. Lots of people describe hypnosis as the feeling you get when taking a nap. The big difference is that you are aware, and you’re guided through this experience during each session by trained hypnotherapist.

How much does it cost?

The length of treatment will vary depending on the nature and severity of the problem and so will the cost.

If hypnosis therapy is covered by your medical insurance, payment can be made using your FSA and HSA credit card.

The purpose of the free consultation is to evaluate the best way to make you feel better and provide you with an estimation of the number of sessions and cost to be successful.

Does it really work?

The reason that hypnosis is so effective, is that it changes and updates subconscious beliefs. You will have a new perception on life events that were a worry for you.

Would I remember everything when I open my eyes?

You will, absolutely.

Do you think hypnosis will help me?

As long as you want to make a change and can follow guidance, then hypnosis is the easiest way to create the change you want.

Are sessions confidential and secured?

All information shared will be protected and all sessions will be recorded safely for your protections.
